Green Hope Hub

Updated: Sep 15, 2022

University of Edinburgh | Scotland

Team members: ChenChen Zha and Serag Elsadani

We are an external team supporting students when they wish to take action against the climate crisis. We achieve this goal by building a website that connects students, NGOs, charities, social enterprises, and environmental activists to establish a healthy ecosystem.

Report 1: June 2022

The past month we had some discussions about when we shall reach out to the schools in Edinburgh to promote the work we are actively focusing on. Since both of us are working in the internship program, and schools in Edinburgh are closed for holidays. Therefore, we agreed it is optimal to contact the schools in September. Meanwhile, we will work on the website promoting the importance of climate actions and supporting the students with various resources.

Report 2: July 2022

This month our team focuses on building the website for the Green Hope Hub, and we are considering the schools we are looking into collaborating with. For example, we may have started with primary, secondary, or high school. However, we thought it might be better to work with the students from the primary school because we believe it is a good idea to work with students from a younger age. Next month, we look forward to adding more details to our website and creating a list of schools and academics/environmental activists we wish to connect with.

Report 3: August 2022

This month our team met our tutor Iain who is fantastic. Iain has given us many

suggestions on how we should continue with this project and how shall we improve our practices as an ethical team. Further, Iain suggested shifting our focus from Edinburgh to Egypt and Zimbabwe regarding water purification. Our team is looking forward to progressing with this idea, and we hope to achieve the goals we initially set. We will focus more on the website, upload presentation PowerPoints, and make more positive impacts.
